Cotillion for Achievement

Selections

Selection of Finalists

Eight young men and eight young women, all seniors from Andrew County and Buchanan County high schools, are selected to participate in this prestigious leadership, professional development and scholarship program each fall.

To ensure complete impartiality, each application is screened for specific information that would identify either the applicant's school or the individual applicant.  Any such identifying information found in an application is removed by the Selections Committee.  Each application is assigned a number and the judges score the applications knowing only the application number.  An applicant shall never have been married nor shall their parent/guardian be a current member of the scholarship board.

Scoring Criteria & Judging of Applications

Applications are judged by five anonymous judges representing

The faith community

The current Cotillion for Achievement board

The applications are scored using the following judging criteria

30% academics

30% extra-curricular activities

30% community service / involvement

10% short essay

The highest scores from this process are used to determine the finalists who are selected from all applicants.
